About Us

The Friends of Missouri Town 1855 is a non-profit organization made up of over 100 volunteers to support the Missouri Town Living History Museum.

The site is managed by the Jackson County Parks and Recreation Historic Sites Division.  To join, please fill out the form on the Membership page.

Our organization helps provide an support events, period appropriate workshops, music, contra-dancing, and interpretive narratives for cooking, carpentry, gardening, blacksmithing, and fiber crafts.

Missouri Town itself is located on a 65 acre plot in Fleming park located in Eastern Jackson County, Missouri.  It consists of 25 period appropriate structures and is actively supported throughout the year by volunteers.

Our Story

Shortly after Missouri Town was established in 1964, the Friends of Missouri Town 1855 was formed to support the village. We help financially and provide volunteers for larger events, picking up the slack when needed. Some of our members share incredible talents in sewing, dying, candle making, wood working, historical repair, and more. If you would like to join us, please look at ways to get involved!
